BREATH COUNTING FOR SLEEP

Breath counting is a simple yet effective mindfulness practice that can help to quiet the mind and prepare the body for sleep. This tech nique involves focusing on the breath and counting each inhale and ex hale to promote relaxation. Find a comfortable position, either lying down or sitting with your back straight. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to settle in. Begin by inhaling deeply through your nose, counting "one" silently to your self. Exhale slowly through your mouth, counting "two." Continue this pattern, counting each inhale and exhale up to ten. Once you reach ten, start again at one. Focus on the sensation of your breath and the count ing, allowing any other thoughts to fade away. Continue this practice for 5 to 10 minutes, or until you feel ready to drift off to sleep. The counting can help to occupy your mind and pro mote a sense of calm, making it easier to relax and fall asleep.
