CAUSES OF DYSTHYMIA

Mood disorders do not discriminate, and anyone can develop depression or dysthymia. There are however some groups that are more vulnerable to developing dysthymia. These include: Having a relative, such as a parent or sibling, with a history of a depressive disorder. Having been exposed to traumatic events or major and upsetting life challenges. Individuals with other diagnosed mental health conditions.
